I got that feeling, too. We...had a pretty good conversation when he first got here.
[And at a point they got to talk actual business. And...well, family talk, in a way. Connie found out what Carolina and Wash were doing and honestly, retirement would do them good.
She smiles a little.]
I'm glad you liked them. It was fun seeing what might surprise you.
[Connie snorts a small dry chuckle, not at Locus but in understanding of where he's coming from.]
You seem like you like your privacy, nothing wrong with that, especially here where everyone's more nosy than what's good for them.
[Those damn Legacies. Connie can imagine how terrible it must feel to have ones' life, triumphs and failures all on display for the public consumption, nevermind the social backlash.]
But you've been making it out to the movie nights, right? And the tag-team training was fun, even if that was something of an unofficial gathering. Your sword work is impressive.
As was your form and technique. It was a pleasure to watch.
[ Even if she was paired against York, and giving him a hard time in the process. Anyone with that sort of skill was to be admired, regardless of the circumstance. ]
I doubt I will engage anyone but Tucker with the sword. But I would not mind sparring against you in the future.
[ Seems as though they've latched onto a topic he's comfortable with, after all. ]
There's a lot you can learn from a group training session. God knows we all have different fighting styles and specialties.
[Once the batter is done, Connie starts mixing together a simple cinnamon sugar and butter mixture in a small bowl. Once it's all blended together she spoons it into a sandwich bag and snips a corner to turn it into a piping bag. They'll get to that after she tests his basic pancake cooking skills.
Which means, time to turn on the stove and heat up the frying pans.]
Those swords are certainly unique. I wouldn't trust anything in the training room arsenal to stand up to them reliably, but if we both use vanilla weaponry I'd be up for it.
[ A faint tick showed in the corner of his mouth -- look who's had practice letting his emotions rise to the surface -- as he turns to more fully observe her. The temperature, the treatment of the pan beforehand. ]
[Connie flashes him a quick grin in reply before pouring out a spoonful of batter into her pan. The first pancake is always a throw-away, in a sense. See if the pan's hot enough, if there's enough or too much butter to get each side uniformly golden. Tapping a finger along the pan's handle she silently counts the seconds until small bubbles coat the top side of the pancake, a thin line of darkening tan hinting to the bottom side. With a flick of her wrist she flips the pancake over, counting again as the other side cooks to completion.]
My guess is that they're alien made, but I've never seen them before. Tucker said something about being the 'Chosen One' but didn't go into detail about what that actually meant. I'm curious about them, though.
[ He halts long enough to watch her progress. What she's waiting for isn't exactly clear, but he's trying to pick up what he can regardless, counting out the time in his head.
That should be sufficient to go on. ]
They are alien in make, yes. Weapons as well as keys, meant to wielded by a 'true warrior'. It seems that on planets of significance to them, one key would be stored that could activate certain temples and trials. The key would be bound to the one who wielded it...until that person's death. Then, the next to hold the sword would be its champion.

[ There's small huff as he turns to look at her. ]
It has not been easy.
[ Even after things around his Legacy started to die down. ]

Do you know what they are? Those swords.
